Today I got covered in Sand!

Woo Hoo! Camp is Rockin!

Today we were down at the lake playing a pretty intense game involving a watermelon and I got hit pretty hard.  So now I am recovering in the cafe drinking a Cookies and Creme Frap from the cafe.  We are having a blast! While down at the lake the rec staff guy told my team he would give us MEGA points if they would cover me in Sand. Of course the team player I am agreed. You may see me in the camp video..lol…It was a blast! Now I am still cleaning sand from every crevise of my body, but that is all part of the game!

I dont have a lot of time today to get you the full update, but just know that we are having a great time! Next year make sure that you set aside 1 week to come to camp and get your life filled to overflowing with the Spirit! You wont regret it!

More to come tomorrow, stay tuned! Hopefully some pictures too!

Camp is Where it is at!

What’s up everyone! This week I am blogging from the cafe at the 2008 South Texas Youth Camp! Wow imagine that Pen. Florida wireless internet at camp..lol..This place is great! The Facilities are hands down the best I have seen! I guess the coolest thing about this facility is the Tabernacle! The Tabernacle is the facility where we meet for our nightly service, the chapel if you will. The place is like a scene from Youth Convention! Hands down the coolest!

The services have been awesome! Pat Schatzline has been speaking with some great annointing! The Altar services have been jam packed with students filling there lives with the Spirit! Normally at camp the 1st night is the introductory service, then you can imagine the next night is a little more intense, and by Thursday night the camp is rocking, kids repenting, filling up with the spirit!

This camp has been totally backwards! Now, I have seen Pat speak before at Conventions and Camps, but it seems like he leaped over Mon-Wed. nights to get straight to Thursday! Wow, the annointing fell last night in the service and students were not just called to repentance, but those that are Walking the Christian walk were encouraged to talk the Jesus talk! He totally called us out last night! From Students to Leaders the call was given to go after the Lost and Hurting!

I will be honest with you as I have been with some, I came to this camp not expecting it to be so intense, not like Florida(seems like I am always saying that, lol). After coming to this camp I have decided that both Camps Rock! While I miss the connection I had with my boys in pen florida, I am embracing the new connections I am making here in this District!

The Lord has truly blessed Tambi and I by bringing us here!  In fact this entire youth pastor thing is still leading me to scracth my head in awestruck wonder! The Lord is soooooooo Good!

Thank you guys for reading the Blog, I look to have some more camp info onb here soon!

Love you guys!

When Cultures Collide…

Hey Blog Readers! I got a few responses over on my myspace regarding my last blog, “28 Years” and I just want to say how truly happy it makes me to see how the Lord is working in your lives!

Today, my blog topic is kinda an in depth discussional topic, but it is a topic that alot of church people and Christians need to examine. In this blog I will share my thoughts, and in the comments section I would really like to hear yours!

So, I am cruising through the youtube movement here in the office and I come across a group of Artists who are probably the hottest thing in Christian Music. They are one of the torch bearers of Christian Hip-Hop. Yes, Christian Hip Hop, now I know we could spend the entire blog talking about Christian Hip-Hop, Christian Rock, Christian Screamo, we could even spend time debating Contemporary Worship Vs Traditional Worship. My thoughts on that topic are pretty clean cut, anything that promotes the gospel message that can reach thousands upon millions of people I am first in line for. Case and point, other day my son comes home from school singing a line from little Waynes  ”Lollipop” song. The line was, “lick it like a lollipop.” lol. Not knowing what that “IT” ment my son was confused. I explained to him what the lyrics of the music ment and boy was he convicted.

What we fill our ears with has a way of destroying our thought life and spiritual walk. So, being bombarded with the World, and all it’s temptations is on every corner, magazine, radio station, billboard, TV Show, Movie, Wal-Mart, the Mall, you name it, the world is in it some way or another. So why not fill your ear with Holy, annointed, inspirational lyrics spoken from the heart of a man or woman that is sold out to Christ? Why not spark a counter revolution?

So, that is my take on that subject. Coming from someone that was hooked on Secular Rap in the late 90’s I know what happens to the mind, where it leads it, where it leads your language, where it takes you with your friends, and the mindset it leaves you with in tempting situations with the opposite sex. (Guys if your not married, no Marvin Gaye, haha)

So, that intro leads me to where I am going today with the Culture Collide. I first start by asking a simple question. “What do you think Heaven will be like?” I will follow that question up with, “Who do you think will be with you in Heaven?”.

I have an opinion about these 2 topics, see, I truly believe that Heaven will be a place of complete and total peace, no skin color problems, no ethnic backgrounds, no political correctness, etc. So why aren’t we more like heaven here on earth? Especially in our churches!

I went to a Christian Concert a couple of weeks ago, it was a Hip Hop Concert for an artist I love! Lacrae. Anyway, when i walked in the room you could tell that over the hundreds of people that were there, only a few were white people. Conversly, When I walk into church on Sunday mornings I notice the opposite effect.

Why? Is it because of style, because of opinion, skin color? I truly believe that all of these things play a part in why our churches aren’t culturally diverse. I have been praying for the longest time to see our cultures come together in a body of unity! No more division, no more seperation, no more, enough is enough! How can we ask for revival and expect Jesus to show up when we can’t open our arms and welcome those that aren’t our skin color, aren’t from our neighborhood, not from our country.

I believe that true revivial will hit churches in a way it has never seen before when christians drop there traditions passed down from their parents and grandparents. How do I know that these traditions exist? Because my parents tried to pass them to me and my brother growing up. On the other hand they taught me to be fair and honest to everyone respecting them as a creation of the King. Kind of Hypocritical, isn’t it?

When Christians learn to accept others, churches learn to embrace culture, can you imagine? Last time I checked He came so that “ALL” could come to repentance, so that “ALL” could be saved! Not just your group of people. Revival, Heaven are both filled with a coat of many colors. “He is not willing that any should perish, but ALL would come to repentance.”

So let the Cultures Collide! Jesus looked over his disciples before he went to sit on the right hand of the father and said to them, ”God authorized and commanded me to commision you: GO out and train EVERYONE you meet, Far and Near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.”

When Cultures Collide, Revival begins!

It all started 28 years ago…

Hello Blog Readers! I gave the last blog a few weeks to catch as many viewers as possible, so I hope you enjoyed them and they where a blessing to you!

Well, today I am starting to think forward to this Saturday, June 14, 2008. My Birthday. For me, my birthday used to mean celebrating and focusing on mostly the monetary stuff. With every card I would get I would rip the envelope apart and shake the card, just to see what would magically fall out. In fact, I don’t think until the past few years I even remember one thing anyone ever wrote on the card. (HeHe, I am sure you can relate, right!)

With all of that said, just a few years ago while preparing for another birthday, Kamdyn’s our daughter, I began to research my family history. Made a few calls, turned over a few stones to see what was hiding underneath. My discovery was awesome, puzzling, and somewhat inspiring. It’s a long story with many rabbit trails for details. So I am going to try to summarize.

Most of you that know me, know that my father passed away when I was five and my mother married my step-dad, we moved to Georgia so my step-dad could have a better job. Well, following this transition I would sometimes wonder about my dad’s side of the family. Seemed like I had zero memories of them. My mother would tell me that they didn’t want anything to do with me. In fact every person in my family side-stepped the issue when I would ask. As a youngster it bothered me, I mean, how could they not want anything to do with me? I was there sons ONLY child. Meaning, I was there grandchild, and under the circumstance would have been a remnant of there own son who had passed away.

Years passed, and as I indicated earlier when Tambi and I were expecting Kamdyn I wanted to do research my fathers death. I found that he died of pancreatic cancer. I immediately had that curious feeling and wondered if that would run in our family. I mean, here tambi and I are fixing to have a baby, what would I pass on to her? Would my genetic make-up effect her?

So, I needed to talk to family members on my father’s side about this, problem was, didn’t know who they were. Wasn’t “Allowed” to talk to them. I didn’t want to hurt my mom, especially with her and my step dad’s divorce just going final. She was already a wreck, I didn’t want to add to it. So, I put it in stealth mode and made a few calls to a couple of local churches that I knew my parents would have visited. So after a few strikeouts I came across an older Pastor in Channelview, TX. He knew exactly who my mom and dad were! He knew who I was! He told me about how my dad, before he got sick, loved working as a Youth Leader in the church and when the youth dept. didn’t have enough money he would sponsor there events.

He went on to tell me the “BIG” news. He didn’t actually come out and say it, he just said, “Jason, I can’t go into detail, but your search is fixing to get a whole lot bigger than what you think!”  I knew exactly what the pastor was saying. I immediately called my step dad and said, “Dad, I want you to be truthful with me, Was I adopted?” The phone was silent, I had to ask him if he was still there.  When he finally spoke up he started to stutter. I knew it was true! He told me not to say anything to Mom about it.

At that moment I felt the craziest feeling ever, I still to this day cant explain it! Amazed, perplexed, excited, puzzled, worried, happy, hurt. Crazy huh? I was like Will Farrell in Anchorman, a “Glass case of Emotion” lol..

Well, then there was that small detail of keeping it hush hush. My first message on the Friday following finding the news out, I preached on Purpose. God is awesome! He is always working on our behalf, when we know about it, and like in this case, even when we don’t know about it and don’t find out about it till 20 plus years later. I threatened my youth group not to say anything to my mom because following this my wife was admitted into the hospital and Kamdyn was soon to be born.

I literally had to bite my tounge in the hospital so many times, why? During the time leading up to the birth, My mom kept telling details of my birth and how much pain she was in, etc. Obviously she wasn’t being honest with me. That however never changes the fact that she is my mom. In fact, none of the events leading up to this discovery or thereafter has changed my feelings and love for the parents the Lord blessed me with.

Just to cap off this story, I found out that my biological mother was 15 years old when she had me, and my step dads mother, now my grandmother, is the one who suggested my mom and father adopt me, she was there. Even though my mom and her son, my step dad didn’t get married till years later. Awesome how the Lord works!

So, this week isn’t about presents, it isn’t about money, parties, or any of the flash. It’s about purpose! Purpose the Lord births in us even before we are created! Scripture says in Jeremiah 1:5 “I knew you before you were formed in your mother’s womb.” God simply Doesn’t make mistakes. The world may brand you with that name, but God Doesn’t make mistake! He takes your garbage and turns it into Gold!

Get your brain around that…Jesus Love you! Thank him for creating you, loving you, and being there for you!

enjoy

Birthday Cake

Leave it on the Desk

Hey Bloggers, Had to share this story..
“There was a certain Professor of Religion named Dr. Christianson, a studious man who taught at a small college in the western United States . Dr. Christianson taught the required survey course in Christianity at this particular institution. Every student was required to take this course their freshman year, regardless of his or her major.
Although Dr. Christianson tried hard to communicate the essence of the gospel in his class, he found that most of his students looked upon the course as nothing but required drudgery. Despite his best efforts, most students refused to take Christianity seriously.
This year, Dr. Christianson had a special student named Steve. Steve was only a freshman, but was studying with the intent of going onto seminary for the ministry. Steve was popular, he was well liked, and he was an imposing physical specimen. He was now the starting center on the school football team, and was the best student in the professor’s class.
One day, Dr. Christianson asked Steve to stay after class so he could talk with him.
“How many push-ups can you do?”  Steve said, “I do about 200 every night. “200? That’s pretty good, Steve,” Dr. Christianson said. “Do you think you could do 300?” Steve replied, “I don’t know…. I’ve never done 300 at a time”  “Do you think you could?” again asked Dr. Christianson. “Well, I can try,” said Steve.
“Can you do 300 in sets of 10? I have a class project in mind and I need you to do about 300 push-ups in sets of ten for this to work. Can you do it? I need you to tell me you can do it,” said the professor. Steve said, “Well… I think I can…yeah, I can do it.
Dr. Christianson said, “Good! I need you to do this on Friday. Let me explain what I have in mind.
Friday came and Steve got to class early and sat in the front of the room. When class started, the professor pulled out a big box of donuts. No, these weren’t the normal kinds of donuts, they were the extra fancy BIG kind, with cream centers and frosting swirls. Everyone was pretty excited it was Friday, the last class of the day, and they were going to get an early start on the weekend with a party in Dr. Christianson’s class.

Dr. Christianson went to the first girl in the row and asked, “Cynthia, do you want to have one of these donuts?” Cynthia said, “Yes. Dr. Christianson then turned to Steve and asked, “Steve, would you do ten push-ups so that Cynthia can have a donut?”  “Sure!” Steve jumped down from his desk to do a quick ten. Then Steve again sat in his desk. Dr. Christianson put a donut on Cynthia’s desk.
Dr. Christianson then went to Joe, the next person, and asked, “Joe, do you want a donut?”  Joe said, “Yes.” Dr. Christianson asked, “Steve would you do ten push-ups so Joe can have a donut?”  Steve did ten push-ups, Joe got a donut. And so it went, down the first aisle, Steve did ten push-ups for every person before they got their donut.
Walking down the second aisle, Dr. Christianson came to Scott. Scott was on the basketball team, and in as good condition as Steve. He was very popular and never lacking for female companionship. When the professor asked, “Scott do you want a donut?”  Scott’s reply was, “Well, can I do my own push-ups?”  Dr.. Christianson said, “No, Steve has to do them. Then Scott said, “Well, I don’t want one then. Dr. Christianson shrugged and then turned to Steve and asked, “Steve, would you do ten push-ups so Scott can have a donut he doesn’t want?”  With perfect obedience Steve started to do ten push-ups. Scott said, “HEY! I said I didn’t want one!” Dr. Christianson said, “Look! This is my classroom, my class, my desks, and these are my donuts. Just leave it on the desk if you don’t want it.” And he put a donut on Scott’s desk.
Now by this time, Steve had begun to slow down a little. He just stayed on the floor between sets because it took too much effort to be getting up and down. You could start to see a little perspiration coming out around his brow.
Dr. Christianson started down the third row. Now the students were beginning to get a little angry. Dr.
Christianson asked Jenny, “Jenny, do you want a donut?”  Sternly, Jenny said, “No. Then Dr. Christianson asked Steve, “Steve, would you do ten more push-ups so Jenny can have a donut that she doesn’t want?” Steve did ten….Jenny got a donut.
By now, a growing sense of uneasiness filled the room. The students were beginning to say, “No!” and there were all these uneaten donuts on the desks.
Steve also had to really put forth a lot of extra effort to get these push-ups done for each donut. There began to be a small pool of sweat on the floor beneath his face, his arms and brow were beginning to get red because of the physical effort involved.
Dr.. Christianson asked Robert, who was the most vocal unbeliever in the class, to watch Steve do each push up to make sure he did the full ten push-ups in a set because he couldn’t bear to watch all of Steve’s work for all of those uneaten donuts. He sent Robert over to where Steve was so Robert could count the set and watch Steve closely.
Dr. Christianson started down the fourth row. During his class, however, some students from other classes had wandered in and sat down on the steps along the radiators that ran down the sides of the room. When the professor realized this, he did a quick count and saw that now there were 34 students in the room. He started to worry if Steve would be able to make it.
Dr. Christianson went on to the next person and the next and the next. Near the end of that row, Steve was really having a rough time. He was taking a lot more time to complete each set.
Steve asked Dr. Christianson, “Do I have to make my nose touch on each one?” Dr. Christianson thought for a moment, “Well, they’re your push-ups. You are in charge now. You can do them any way that you want.” And Dr. Christianson went on.
A few moments later, Jason, a recent transfer student, came to the room and was about to come in when all the students yelled in one voice, “NO! Don’t come in! Stay out!” Jason didn’t know what was going on. Steve picked up his head and said, “No, let him come. Professor Christianson said, “You realize that if Jason comes in you will have to do ten push-ups for him?”  Steve said, “Yes, let him come in. Give him a donut. Dr. Christianson said, “Okay, Steve, I’ll let you get Jason’s out of the way right now. Jason, do you want a donut?” Jason, new to the room, hardly knew what was going on. “Yes,” he said, “give me a donut. “Steve, will you do ten push-ups so that Jason can have a donut?” Steve did ten push-ups very slowly and with great effort. Jason, bewildered, was handed a donut and sat down.
Dr Christianson finished the fourth row, and then started on those visitors seated by the heaters. Steve’s arms were now shaking with each push-up in a struggle to lift himself against the force of gravity. By this time sweat was profusely dropping off of his face, there was no sound except his heavy breathing; there was not a dry eye in the room.
The very last two students in the room were two young women, both cheerleaders, and very popular. Dr.
Christianson went to Linda, the second to last, and asked, “Linda, do you want a doughnut?”
Linda said, very sadly, “No, thank you.
Professor Christianson quietly asked, “Steve, would you do ten push-ups so that Linda can have a donut she doesn’t want?”
Grunting from the effort, Steve did ten very slow push-ups for Linda.
Then Dr. Christianson turned to the last girl, Susan. “Susan, do you want a donut?”
Susan, with tears flowing down her face, began to cry. “Dr.
Christianson, why can’t I help him?”

Dr Christianson, with tears of his own, said, “No, Steve has to do it alone; I have given him this task and he is in charge of seeing that everyone has an opportunity for a donut whether they want it or not. When I decided to have a party this last day of class, I looked at my grade book. Steve here is the only student with a perfect grade. Everyone else has failed a test, skipped class, or offered me inferior work. Steve told me that in football practice, when a player messes up he must do push-ups. I told Steve that none of you could come to my party unless he paid the price by doing your push-ups. He and I made a deal for your sakes.
“Steve, would you do ten push-ups so Susan can have a donut?”
As Steve very slowly finished his last push-up, with the understanding that he had accomplished all that was required of him, having done 350 push-ups, his arms buckled beneath him and he fell to the floor.
Dr. Christianson turned to the room and said, “And so it was, that our Savior, Jesus Christ, on the cross, plead to the Father, ‘Into thy hands I commend my spirit.’ With the understanding that He had done everything that was required of Him, He yielded up His life. And like some of those in this room, many of us leave the gift on the desk, uneaten.
Two students helped Steve up off the floor and to a seat, physically exhausted, but wearing a thin smile.
“Well done, good and faithful servant,” said the professor, adding, “Not all sermons are preached in words.
Turning to his class, the professor said, “My wish is that you might understand and fully comprehend all the riches of grace and mercy that have been given to you through the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He spared not only His Begotten Son, but gave Him up for us all, for the whole Church, now and forever. Whether or not we choose to accept His gift to us, the price has been paid. “Wouldn’t you be foolish and ungrateful to leave it lying on the desk?” Share this with someone. It’s bound to touch their heart and demonstrate Salvation in a very special way.”

Ok, It’s PJ now, wasn’t this an awesome illustration of how much our savior really loves us! How much he loved us when he went to the cross, was beaten, made fun of, spit at, stripped of dignity! Like Steve, he kept going. The thing I love about this story is that Steve didn’t even hesitate to quit, he didn’t moan and groan like most of us do when church time rolls around, he didn’t make any excuses when he had to do more push-ups than the teacher asked him to do. He didn’t say, well I got homework to focus on, He didn’t offer any excuses! Plain and Simple. I am all for education, but a mistake that we all tend to make when we are pressing toward our academic goal is we stop pressing forth in our Spiritual walk. No lie, stats say that almost 80% of teenagers graduate from their faith when they walk across that stage on Graduation day.

I don’t know about you, but I am thankful I didn’t. Know why? Because like H&R block, I had and still have People. Why didn’t anyone in the class cheer Steve on? Why wasn’t anyone amazed by the feet, because no one understood the reason behind why he did it. I can’t say that I blame them either. Given the same set of circumstance I would probaly have done the same exact thing. (Regardless of my love for Donuts..lol)

Steve, being the obedient Christian, great athlete, and great friend gave. Gave obviously of his effort, but he also gave his time, and his own desires ( I am sure he wanted a donut too). Why? To live the life as a Christ Like Example.

Even though, it’s just a story..still good stuff!

Gone with the Wind…

Who could ever forget this timeless classic? Ok, so I have to admit. I never bought the commemerative plates from that infomercial, and Until this weekend I had never seen, nor had interest to see this movie. I’m not sure why not, maybe it’s because of my love for Bruce Willis or for more modern style movies with robots or Will Smith..lol…Not sure, but I am super Glad I rented this movie.

I have to admit, the movie is long, real long, just to give you an idea, we got home from church around 12:30pm and started the movie within 15 minutes of that. The movie didn’t get over until right at 5:30pm! WOW, huh? Despite the length of the movie it held my attention, from the opening Overture to the Intermission (Change the DVD) and right through to the ending, I was walking with the characters. From when they seemed to have everything to when they had nothing after the civil war, back to when they had everything again.

This movie is a must see, I was captured by the storyline. The base of the movie is simple, You can have everything in the World that you want, but that cant buy you love. Haha, night at the Roxbury music starts playing…

Scarlett the main character was after a man, she couldn’t have, so jealous, shrewd, you know, someone who would do anything to get what she wanted. She even became best friends with the wife just to keep tabs on the man. Doing everything in her power to sway the “Man of her Dreams”, while using people, making money, and becoming a mother had no effect to slow her down from her persuit.

Kind of sad if you ask me, chasing something that you know isn’t right. Doing stuff out of desperation, rather than out of purpose. People do this all of the time, chase after the worlds dream of success while in the process loosing out on living life fullfilled. I think living a fullfilling life is more successful than making millions of dollars and still being empty. Sure, it would be fun at first, but like everything, wouldnt it become burdensome?

I suggest you watch the movie and check it out for yourself. It’s a classic for a reason and the lesson you will learn by watching Scarlett will enable you to look around yourself and see just what your taking for granted all the while having what can fulfill you standing there looking right in your face the entire time.

In Fact, when you watch the movie, the main characters aren’t even the Hero’s, in fact they are the loosers. It’s a young lady named Melanie that is the champion of the movie. Watch it and you will see what I mean. When there was problems, she was there. When someone needed help, she came through. When hurt set it over the loss of life, she came to the aid. Watch and you will see. She seemed to be the most successful of all.

I often wonder when it is time for me to move on from this life to the next what will be said, who will attend, or what will happen at my funeral. I want there to be joy, happiness, and peace knowing that I lived my life with no regrets! Ready for heaven. This life is just a waiting room for the party of eterninty and I can’t wait!

Bless you guys!

Shout to the Lord…On American Idol?

Well you will see it, video from Wed. nights American Idol. I think it is so hilarious that the best artists that grace the stage at Idol are Christians.  I love when an artist embraces that the talent they possess is a gift from the Almighty God.

Now, I remember Simon blasting Mandisa a few years ago for Singing Shackels by Mary Mary, which is a soulful, energetic, awesome song that is still played on many Secular Stations. I remember him being baffled why she would select a song like this. So, last night I was impressed to see the tide turn.

Isn’t it awesome when a monster like American Idol begins to do Humanitarian work, they can’t escape the power of Faith and the Cross of Jesus! So I am totally fine with the substitution of Shepard for Jesus.

 Why? Shouldn’t I be upset?

Nope, either way, truth be told, Jesus is our Shepard! Lol…in an effort to make the song, User Friendly and as Non-Offending to the non christian faiths…You can’t hide the fact that Jesus is our(the) true Shepard. I hear it everyday at the funeral home, you probaly have heard many messages with that popular scripture, “Jesus is the Shepard, I shall not be in want.” You cant escape it, you can’t save a nation without Jesus Christ!

What an awesome way to represent the Lord in impressive fashion! Using the world’s “Idol” as a tool to reach MILLIONS! HAHA how bout that for an outreach! I gaurantee that “Shout to the Lord” song last night reached more homes than many of our most well known and loved evangelists!

For this I will let the song do the rest! Enjoy!

PjRock out….(My best Ryan Seacrest Impression)

Ok, Here is the latest video from Last night! They put the word back in it..hmm?

Goosebumps….lol..get ready to hear this song at your church this Sunday..lol…PJ OUT!

Short and Sweet

 Hey Bloggers,

Short Blog today! looking gloomy outside! It has been overcast since last nights big loss to the Cardinals. Can you believe that Brandon Backe and Pouljos got into an arguement before the game, then, to everyones amazement Pouljos hit’s 2 homers! Imagine that..

In other sporting news, the Rockets stomped the Seattle (Notso) SuperSonics without Tracy McGrady and for most of the game without Shane Battier(Cough:Defensive player of the year). All in all we will be tested this Friday night when the boys from the desert come into town, the big shaqwagon and nash come to call. It’s going to be a great game! Probally better than the Astros game. That is unless we get our bats off our shoulders and put our game where our mouths apparenty are, a la Brandon Backe.

This weekend looks to be exciting! Saturday Tambi has some classes in the morning so I am thinking about possible options for the kids. Maybe the park, maybe the mall, maybe saturday morning cartoons, who knows…Then Later that night I will be at the College Service. Going with an acoustic set with Omar! Looking forward to it! Going to a be a great escape for a couple of hours with some awesome college students.

The Funeral home has been slamming, 3 calls in one day yesterday! WOW! I even had to get the old removal shoes out and go into the field and help with a house call. I admit at first I was a bit upset, I normally am a team player so I am not sure why this bothered me so much…Well Actually I did..lol..I didn’t want to screw up! It had been almost 2 years since my last removal in Florida. Yikes! Didn’t want to drop anyone..lol..So, at first I was a bit upset, then when i embarked on the call I got in the zone and had a blast. It was nice. Well, if your definition of nice and mine match up..No one hit the floor and I didn’t fart when I moved the body to the stretcher.  So it was good…pardon the bluntness.

Anyway, if your in 2nd life check my avatar out! I need friends…I am learning all I can about this enviroment. I am actually applying to be a DJ at a radio station in SL. Awesome huh? My name is PJRock Kas in second life, so teleport to me and let’s hang out in virtual life. I have been thinking alot lately about the virtual world, I haven’t told Pastor this, but when we design our virtual church, I am going to require a Whataburger next door….lol…I haven’t found one in SL yet, but it wouldnt suprise me if one did, after all I flew the last time I signed in. Seems anything is possible.

Well, as promised I am out…have a great night and God Bless you!

PJRock Kas….

Just a short one today..

The Infomercial that Changed my life…

Hey Guys,

This morning I happened to be going through the ritual like always before coming to work. Lately my little ones have been sick which has means Tambi, my wife, has been sleeping on the couch in the living room while 1 sleeps in there with her and the other in the bed with me. So, after waking up, praying, and showering I made my way into the living room to get dressed for the day.

Tambi was awake and wanted to watch the Eli Stone episode we missed last night. When she turned the TV on it brightened to the start up channel. All the comcast boxes default to channel 2 when you turn them on. They do give you the option to change them and normally we set it to ESPN or a Cartoon Channel like BOOM. (that is another blog on another day, I love that channel!)

So here we are it’s 5:30am and the TV comes on and a story caught my eye. Now as most of you know early morning TV consists of Infomercials. This being the case, the show we were watching had many stories of weight loss, ahh the classic, huh…Actually, as I started listening to the stories almost all of them sounded the same except one. One caught my attention, it actually made me cry.

Most of you know that I am a big guy, if you have ever been in a youth group or church that I have served at you know that when I go to Amusement parks I normally find a cool place and plan sermons. haha, I typically make excuses to why I don’t like amusement parks, roller coasters, water rides, etc. As I watched this story from a woman who had lost like 85 pounds she spoke of getting on a roller coaster with her kid, when she sat down they couldn’t get the bar to close, couldn’t get the seat belt fastened. This was the moment the flashback happened……

I had been married for a couple of years and we had bought season passes to Sea World(my favorite place) and to Busch Gardens in Tampa. Tambi and I went over to Busch Gardens for a day trip and we went to get on one of the roller coasters. We waited in line for like 30 minutes and when we finally got to the loading area I was starting to tighten up, not because of the chills and spills like I claimed to my wife, but because I looked at the cars on the coaster and watched large people get in and have trouble pulling the bar back.

So here we are, next in line, time to load, my wife quickly makes her way to a car and gets in and I leisurely stroll to the car dreading the inevitable. I sat down and we couldn’t pull the bar down. As you know the attendant comes by each cart and does a safety check before each ride. When he got to my cart he chuckled (which made an already embarrasing moment worse for me) and tried to cram the bar down, well guess what, he ran out of room…lol…He couldn’t get the bar down. So, he stopped the ride, called other attendants over, made people in the “Big Seats” get out and change with us, then after about 10 minutes of struggle got the bar down and off we went. My wife was terrified because of the space it took to get the bar down on me she had a ton of extra room between her and the bar..lol..(she said it was like riding a bull)

So there is my roller coaster confession. The reason why I plan sermons at amusement parks and not ride the rides with the youth. What is a real hurt for me is that, it’s the reason why I can’t ride with my own kids. Mason, my oldest is getting to the age where this stuff appeals to him.

So as you can imagine, when i heard this story it appealed to me. Great Marketing? You bet! It challenged me, so I looked into the program. I am interested what i saw when I visited the site. So, I am going to take a risk and try it out. Either way, It will work. Why? Because I am in it to win it! Not holding back…I have suffered with this food addiction to long, suffered with the embarrassment of thinking I look one way then looking at pictures to find I am look nothing like I desire. This truly was the infomercial that changed my life.

Who Knows? This system may work or it may bust, but at least I am going to give it a shot. Either way, I am going to make some lifestyle changes.

Now, here is your self application, what are some lifestyle changes that are holding you back from doing what you want to do? For me it’s my weight. For you it may be drinking, gossiping, telling lies, smoking, depression, sex, whatever it is, Is it holding you back from being the kind of person you could be? Maybe even the kind of person you were created to be? Search deep. Explore yourself and change, maybe it’s a little change or maybe like me it’s a life altering decision. See there are more complications than just being fat, there are all the blemishes, possible heart attack, diabetes, and all kinds of ailments that could happen resulting from my weight problem. So if you have a heart condition and your constantly struggling with your faith, family, friends, and self do an examination and do it before it’s to late…

Love you guys!

PJ
